April 3-4: Big Sur, CA

We drove all the way up Highway 1 just past Big Sur until we got to the road block. March 17th there was a landslide and they expect the road to be closed for a while. They are saying no RVs and trailers will be allowed through for two years! It made our stay their nice because in order to travel to Big Sur from somewhere further north, one would have to travel several hours out of the way and around the mountains to get there, so it eliminates a lot of tourists. Bad for the businesses though...

My favorite part of our drive so far has been the poppy fields. Wild poppies popping up all over, covering hills and valleys. You can see the yellow poppy field on a bluff overlooking the ocean in the pictures below.
We camped out in the southernmost part of the redwoods. Pitching our tiny little tent below these huge majestic trees. I had an incredibly safe feeling amongst those trees. There were lots of clover patches in the woods and the clovers were huge too!!

Those pictures are unbelievable!! What an experience to sleep underneath those giant trees, comforting I'm sure.
