Cape San Blas, Fl

I didn't know how much I really wanted a day at the beach until we got to St.Joseph beach on Cape San Blas. After brunch at Tamara's in Apalachicola, Chandler and I wandered into a local outfitters store and met man who directed us out to St. Joseph's. He said he and his wife had just recently moved from "30-A" (which he also recommended we visit) and that he loved going out to Cape San Blas and paddleboarding.
It was a short 25 minute drive from Apalachicola to the Cape, so before we knew it we were laying in the sand and listening to the tiny waves of the gulf hit the shore. It was revitalizing to soak up the sun and I understood how deprived I have been after a snowy winter in the mountains.
We spent most of the afternoon relaxing on the beach and when I was forced ;) to roll up my towel, it was decided we would check out 30-A and get some cold drinks. Chandler didn't love 30-A and I understood that it was probably because it was a little like Pleasantville, but I loved that it was so pedestrian friendly. All of the roads had bike lanes, everyone was walking, big beautiful beach houses with their big beautiful porches ran right up to sidewalk, and all the restaurants were open-air or outside. We hung out at Red Bar for a while; a famous and grungy kind of bar with posters covering the ceilings, captivating chandeliers, and a huge beer selection. When the sun began lowering we made the decision to get in the car and drive as much of the journey to New Orleans as possible. We made it to Biloxi, about and hour to the East of New Orleans and camped out at Shepard State Park for the night.
