Streetcars and Mr. B's

After calling and finding out that all the Valentine's Day dinner cruises were booked, we decided to take our chances downtown. Naturally we took the streetcar and naturally we drank a bottle of Riesling on the streetcar. When we arrived downtown C and I stopped in a coffee shop to get a couple of Mocha Lattes to wake us up for what we thought would be a long wait at Mr. B's Bistro. But when we arrived at Mr. B's they were able to seat us immediately! What Luck!!
The atmosphere was perfect for a classic Valentine's Day and the food was even better! Chandler ordered the gumbo (which he has tried at almost every restaurant so far :) ) and the WOOD GRILLED FISH - Fresh fillet of fish grilled over a wood fire, served with creamy mashed potatoes, lemon butter sauce and fresh vegetable of the evening and I ordered GARLIC TRUFFLE FRENCH FRIES – Garlic and thyme infused housemade French fries topped with grana cheese and white truffle oil (they also came with the cutest little fork) and MR. B'S SEASONAL SALAD - Mixed baby greens, wine poached pears, dried cranberries, crumbled blue cheese, roasted spiced peacans, and red wine-pear vinaigrette.

After dinner, we walked to the river and popped a bottle of Taittinger champagne which we finished before boarding the last streetcar home.
I told Chandler that last night goes down in the books as the best Valentine's Day ever, but I had such an amazing time I totally forgot to take pictures- so there are only a couple not so good ones...
