Day 43: Cochiti Lake and Santa Fe, NM

March 19th 2011
We woke up at the beautiful Cochiti Lake Campground and made the decision to go ahead and press on to Santa Fe. It was Saturday and the town was holding their weekly Farmer's Market down in the Railyard District. There were lots of greens and we enjoyed some local pizza from a local artisan and then walked did some more sightseeing in the city. We picked up a delicious Mexican meal at The Shed and had to go back to Kakawa for some elixirs :)))

While grabbing a White Chocolate Pepper and an Atole elixir we met a really awesome local named Scott who was interested in hearing about our trip. He had lots of advice as to where to visit and what to do because he has lived in and around the area for a while. After talking for a bit, he invited us over to his place for wine and pesto pasta. It was really a nice experience being welcomed by a stranger on the road and equally as nice having a relaxed home cooked meal. Scott's life was so interesting. He is very well traveled having taken a 17,000 mile road trip in his VW van a one point, he lived in Europe two different times learning their native languages, he's done work in Central America- just so many adventures to hear about. He is also very adventurous- a paraglider and a biker who has taken extensive trips on his BMW. I think it was all inspiring to Chandler and I. I was reminded to appreciate every moment and realize how few people get the opportunity to experience what we have experienced already.
