Day 45-47: Duuuurrrango!!

March 21st-23rd

After stretching and soaking at Ojo Caliente for the day we made the 4 hour haul to Durango, Colorado where we were greeted by the lovely Jessica Edelbaum and her boyfriend Travis :) Travis and his roommate Kyle had a delicious homemade burrito dinner waiting for us so we immediately sat down to chow down (soooo nice!).
Shortly after our arrival, Jessica came home from work and we rallied together and went out for some high altitude drinks at Steamworks Brewery downtown.
Right off the bat I felt like I was back home in Boone. Durango is much similar in size and the small mountain town atmosphere was insanely familiar.

The following morning Jessica was kind enough to share her grocery discount with us at Nature's Oasis, so we picked up some essentials that included Dr. Bronner's, dried bananas, bakery fresh bread, and trail bars. We ate lunch at The Himalayan Kitchen, where they had a buffet for $8.99 and some of these most tasty naan I've eaten!
The rest of the day I spent resting and researching for the trip, Chandler explored Durango on his bike. That evening Jessica, Chandler, and I split a bottle of Chardonnay and a nice beet, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprout, sweet potato, and onion concoction. mmmm.... hmmmm...!!!
Yesterday a.m. Chandler insisted that I ride the beautiful Animas River Trail with him on our bikes. So we started the day at Doughworks, where we grabbed some fresh doughnuts and chais and hit the trail. Durango is a quaint little mountain town and I understand the appeal the same as Boone town U.S.A.

After saying goodbye to Jessica (Travis had left Monday for Utah where he does Outdoor Therapy for at-risk youth a week at a time) and her wonderful and resourceful roommates- Kyle and Anna- we were on the road again, taking the highly recommended "Million Dollar Highway" through Orvis Springs, Telluride, then dumping us out at Mesa Verde!!
